Ingredients:
Lidocaine 4%, Arnica montana, Trolamine Salicylate, Methyl Sulfonyl Methane (MSM), 1,2 Hexanediol, Alcohol, Aloe Vera, Butylene Glycol, Caprylyl Glycol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Hexylene Glycol, Melissa Officinalis, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint), Menthol, PEG 40- Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Phosphatidylcholine, Potassium Sorbate, PPG-26 Butheth-26, Propylene Glycol, Rosmarinus officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Royal Jelly, Tetrasodium EDTA, Tridecth-9, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Water, Xanthan Gum.
Directions:
Adult and children 12 years of age and older: Apply and massage onto affected area, repeat 2 to 3 layers, use up to 3 times daily. Children under 12 years of age: Consult a doctor.
Warnings:
For external use only. Avoid contact with eyes. If condition worsens or symptoms persist for more than 7 days or clear up and occur again within a few days, discontinue use of this product and consult a doctor. Do not use in large quantities, particularly over raw surfaces or blistered areas.
Lidocaine
Lidocaine is a local anesthetic, or numbing medication. It works by binding to the sodium channels on the nerve cell membrane, blocking the conduction of pain. It causes vasodilation (opening up) of the blood vessels and improves local blood flow. Lidocaine also blocks the sodium channels of the skeletal muscle cells, and causes the muscles to relax.
Kope Pain Relief Gel has 4% lidocaine, the highest allowed by the FDA for over-the-counter drug products. Moreover, it is our propriety formula that makes our lidocaine gel even more effective.
Avoid using topical lidocaine with heat or cold packs. Lidocaine can numb your sense of hot and cold, and can result in accidental burned or damaged skin.
Salicylate
Trolamine Salicylate is an anti-inflammatory drug.
It is used as a topical analgesic for temporary relief of arthritis pain, muscle and tendon strains, bruises, neck pain and backache. It has no odor unlike other topical analgesics such as Methyl Salicylate.
Salicylate relieves pain by inhibits the enzyme activity of Cyclooxygenase (COX). COX is the enzyme that helps the formation of prostaglandins (PGs) which cause inflammation, swelling, pain and fever.
The salicylic acid portion also absorbs the UVB radiation, with sun protection effect, and is used in many sunscreen lotions.
People who are allergic to aspirin allergy or who take blood thinners should consult a doctor before regularly using topical medications that contain salicylates.
